Caribou es la Influencia de Hoy.
Dan Snaith es un musico/compositor canadiense (nacido en 1978), con albums bajo el nombre de Manitoba, Caribou y Daphni. Conocido por alterar su sonido album tras album, el incorpora sonidos electrónicos/psicodélicos, ritmos de Krautrock y breakbeat de tambores, creando un exuberante panorama musical. Snaith también crea música con un sonido más comercial, "dance", bajo el nombre Daphni.
¿Y Como no?, si es lo que ha convertido a la Banda en una exitosa combinación mas allá de un simple mezcla de música. Caribou fue el nombre definitivo de la banda, aunque Dan, había elegido Manitoba para el comienzó de su carrera, pero no sera tan fácil ya que decidio cambiarla bajo la amenaza de una demanda por Handsome "Dick" Manitoba, frontman de The Dictators, aun banda de rock-punk. Sin interés en los problemas legales, Snaith es citado diciendo que él eligió el nuevo nombre "Caribou", cuando estaba en un viaje de LSD con sus amigos en los bosques de Canadá, el después subió a un árbol y no bajó hasta que terminó su primer álbum bajo el nombre nuevo, este saldría cuatro meses más tarde.
